South Africa has a history of producing an outsized number of champion golfers per capita: Gary Player, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen plus a younger crop including Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Trevor Immelman. All champions, all white. Despite black golfers being welcomed in the South African professional ranks since the end of Apartheid, they are still looking forward to their first major champion on the Sunshine tour.
